NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- More than 20 employees at a Whole Foods store and a Whole Foods warehouse in Brooklyn have contracted COVID-19 within the past three months, according to a report.
Sixteen employees at the Whole Foods Market on 3rd Street in Gowanus have tested positive for COVID-19 since Sept. 10, the Daily News reported.
Nine workers at a Whole Foods warehouse in Industry City, meanwhile, have tested positive for the virus since Oct. 22, the outlet reported.
An employee at the Gowanus Whole Foods told the outlet the chain is “not following the protocol.”
“It’s more about the money than our health,” the employee, who asked to remain anonymous, said, according to the outlet. “I don’t think that’s fair at all.”
The grocery store chain confirmed to the outlet that employees at the warehouse and the store have tested positive for COVID-19, without saying how many employees or providing any additional details.
“The safety of our Team Members and customers remains our top priority, which is why we address any confirmed diagnosis in our stores with a comprehensive action plan that includes enhanced cleaning and contact tracing, as well as communicating directly with our Team Members,” a Whole Foods spokesman wrote in an email sent to the outlet.
“We support any Team member who is diagnosed positive or placed in quarantine so they can prioritize their health and stay at home,” he went on to say.
