3 cops injured while trying to stop stolen car fleeing NYC through Holland Tunnel

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Three Port Authority police officers were injured on Friday while trying to stop a stolen vehicle from fleeing New York City through the Holland Tunnel, the New York Post reported citing anonymous police sources.

Officers stopped the stolen Mercedes Benz around 1:45 p.m. as it exited the Holland Tunnel into New Jersey.

The driver reportedly refused to open the door and accelerated, hitting three vehicles and running over an officer.

Two of the officers injured their hands in the incident and the other one suffered head and knee injuries.

All three were brought to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Police later discovered the car abandoned in Newark.

No arrests have been made.
