NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — Three shootings occurred in less than two hours of one another during the late afternoon on Thursday, and incidents in Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx left a man in critical condition and two women injured.
The first shooting happened as a northbound A train was approaching the Hoyt-Schermerhorn Streets subway station in Boreum Hill, Brooklyn at about 4:45 p.m.
Police held a press conference to provide preliminary information on the shooting, which they said was the result of a verbal and physical altercation.
According to NYPD Chief of Transit Michael Kemper, a 36-year-old man provoked a dispute with a 32-year-old man when he got on the train at Nostrand Avenue.

The altercation shifted between verbal and physical before the 36-year-old pulled out a gun and approached the 32-year-old “in a menacing way.” At that point, the 32-year-old removed the gun from the other man and shot him multiple times.
The 36-year-old is in critical condition at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn, and the 32-year-old is in police custody. For more information regarding this incident, click here.
