NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Three people who were in the car during a hit-and-run crash that killed a Department of Correction employee outside Yankee Stadium on Thursday turned themselves in, police said Friday.

The driver, 24-year-old Carlos Hernandez, slammed a BMW into 69-year-old Cathy Garcia's Mitsubishi Outlander at the intersection of River Avenue and East 161st Street around 5:15 a.m., according to authorities.

He was reportedly with Edwin Amparo, 29, and Atahualda Rodriguez, 28, at the time.

Garcia was killed in the crash. She was on her way to work at the Application Investigation Unit for the DOC when she was hit.

The three left their car and fled the scene, leaving behind 12 stolen catalytic converters in the trunk, officials said.

Police charged Hernandez with reckless endangerment, leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and possession of stolen property.

Amparo and Rodriguez were only stuck with possession of stolen property and possession of burglar tools charges.
