
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Four people were injured in the East Village on Thursday evening when a minivan driver plowed into a pedestrian, then kept driving for blocks and crashed into four other vehicles, police said.
The 46-year-old driver who taken into custody following the series of crashes near Cooper Square.
Charges against the person were pending Friday, while the circumstances surrounding the crashes weren’t immediately known.
It all started just before 6:45 p.m. at Cooper Square and Third Avenue, where the minivan driver struck a pedestrian crossing the street, police said.
The driver continued going southbound on Third Avenue to East 6th Street, where they struck an occupied Toyota Camry, according to cops.
They then drove down to East 5th Street and struck three vehicles—two were unoccupied and one occupied was by two people—before coming to a stop, police said.
The pedestrian who was hit was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue in stable condition.
The driver of the Camry did not require hospitalization, while the two people in the parked vehicles were taken to Bellevue in stable condition.
