NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Five people were hurt Monday night when a BMW crashed into the back of a bus on Staten Island, according to officials.

The incident occurred just before 10 p.m. when a 21-year-old driver slammed into a SIM4 bus that was stopped at a red light on Richmond Avenue and Yukon Avenue in the new Springville section, police said.
The driver was speeding before the collision happened Investigators believe.
The BMW driver suffered life-threatening injuries and his 19-year-old passenger was critically injured and Staten Island University Hospital North, police said.
The MTA driver, a 12-year-old boy, and a 43-year-old woman who were passengers aboard the bus were also injured in the crash, authorities said.
An investigation remains ongoing.
