NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – The NYPD is searching for a group of girls in a vicious hammer attack and robbery on a man and woman at a clothing store in the South Bronx.
The NYPD released images Friday of the six female suspects being sought for the attack in the Melrose section on Aug. 17.
It’s unclear what sparked the assault on the two victims—a 41-year-old woman and 29-year-old man—inside the clothing shop at 2944 Third Ave. shortly before 9 p.m. that Saturday night.

According to police, the group used a hammer to beat the man's arm. They also punched him in the face.
They then used the hammer to strike the woman over the face, and they also pummeled her throughout the body, police said.
They stole property from the woman before fleeing the business on foot, according to cops.
The woman was transported by EMS to NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln in stable condition. The man was not hospitalized.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
