NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Around 60 Metro-North passengers “self-evacuated” onto the tracks at Grand Central on Wednesday morning as an emotionally disturbed woman made a threat on a train, officials said.
The commotion unfolded around 8:20 a.m. aboard a train from New Canaan, according to the MTA and MTA police.
The train was approaching the station platform when the 33-year-old woman “began acting irrationally,” the MTA said.
A witness heard the woman say, "This will be your last day on earth," according to police.
Another passenger feared for their safety and pulled the emergency cord, which stopped the train about 100 yards from the platform.
Roughly 60 passengers then decided to self-evacuate and climbed out of the train onto the tracks, the MTA said.
MTA Police arrived at the scene and escorted dozens of passengers to the platform. No one was injured, officials said.
The woman, who is from Queens, was taken into custody for a psych evaluation at Bellevue Hospital, police said.
She was later charged with making a terroristic threat and making a threat of mass harm.
The MTA said service was briefly delayed and has since returned to normal.
