NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — A 70-year-old Queens woman died this week, one month after she was run over by a pick-up truck just blocks from her home, according to police.
Police say Ning Peng, 70, was found lying on the roadway with head and body trauma on 58th Avenue, between 184th Street and 185th Street in Fresh Meadows around 8 a.m. on Friday, July 16.
She was transported to New York Presbyterian Hospital - Queens, where she was listed in critical condition for several weeks until her death on Aug. 18.
Police say an investigation revealed Peng was struck by a 2017 Ford F-150, which was traveling in reverse out of a shared driveway on 185th Street, as she was walking on the sidewalk.
Peng was knocked to the ground in the collision and subsequently run over by the truck, police said.
She sustained severe trauma to her head and body and was aided by EMS at the scene. It remains unclear if she remained conscious following the crash.
Police say the 65-year-old driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and is currently not facing any charges.
Authorities say the investigation remains ongoing.
Peng lived about a block away from the accident at a home on Utopia Parkway. It is not clear where she was traveling to at the time of the accident.
