NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A 73-year-old woman was slugged in the face in a violent attack on a Manhattan subway platform early Monday.
At 2:31 a.m. the victim was waiting for the northbound R train at the 57th Street-Seventh Avenue station in Midtown when an unknown individual approached and punched her unprovoked, according to NYPD.
After the assault the suspect – a man in his 20s clad in all black – fled streetside in an unknown direction, said police.
EMS responded and took the victim to Mount Sinai Hospital to be treated for swelling to her left eye. She has since been released, cops said.
There have been no arrests as of late Monday afternoon.
