9-year-old pedestrian killed by driver in Brooklyn: police

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 9-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed by a driver in Sheepshead Bay on Friday, according to police.

A 35-year-old woman driving an SUV was reportedly turning into a driveway on 12th Street near Gravesend Neck Road around 2:36 p.m. when she struck the child.

EMS rushed the injured child to Maimonides Medical Center in stable condition.

The 9-year-old’s condition worsened at the hospital, and the child was pronounced dead.

Police do not suspect any criminality on the part of the driver, who stayed on the scene after the crash.

The NYPD's Highway Collision Investigation Squad is investigating the incident.
