Nearly 900 New Yorkers got expired Pfizer vaccine at Times Square pop-up clinic: officials

Clinic

NEW YORK (WCBS 880/1010 WINS) — Nearly 900 people who got vaccinated at a pop-up clinic in the former NFL Experience building in Times Square are being told they will have to get the shot again because the doses they received were expired.

The shots were administered to 899 patients between June 5 and June 10 at the vaccination site that was set up in April for those who work in entertainment on stage and on screen.

An email sent to patients, which was obtained by the New York Post, stated the Pfizer vaccines had been in the freezer "beyond the approved time frame prior to it being administered."

A spokesperson for ATC Vaccination Services, the company that administered the shots under contract to the city, said in a statement, "We apologize for the inconvenience to those receiving the vaccine batch in question and want people first and foremost to know that we have been advised that there is no danger from the vaccine they received."

Health Department spokesperson Patrick Gallahue said those who got the expired doses "have received e-mails, phone calls, and are also being sent letters to make sure they are aware of this situation."

Those impacted are encouraged to get a new dose at any vaccination site that provides the Pfizer shot.

The mayor's office has replaced ATC Vaccination Services as the operator of the site, according to the Post.
