NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Democratic mayoral candidate Eric Adams on Thursday continued to call for Gov. Andrew Cuomo's resignation, but said he had no regrets about sharing a stage with him at a gun violence-focused event last month.

Hours after New York Attorney General Letitia James on Tuesday dropped the results of an investigation that found Cuomo sexually harassed at least 11 women, Adams released a statement calling for the New York State Assembly to "move forward with impeachment proceedings if the governor will not resign."

The Brooklyn borough president doubled down on his statement at an event in Far Rockaway Thursday morning.

"The governor must make the decision if he's going to resign, and if he doesn't, as I stated, the Assembly should expeditiously move forward with the impeachment proceedings so we can get it over to the State Senate if the determination is made, but the business of the state must continue," he said. "The state doesn't fall apart because of one individual."

Asked whether he regretted holding a joint press conference with Cuomo at a Brooklyn church in mid-July to announce a series of gun violence prevention measures, however, Adams did not equivocate.

"No. He's the governor of the state of New York," he responded. "I have a crime crisis in my community, and while we deal with the crisis of what happened to the women who were involved in this issue, I have to deal with a crime crisis."

"He's still the governor. And I'm going to continue, with members of the elected, to deal with those crises that are in front of us," he said.

"And so no, I was very clear on my message and, while I was there, I indicated what my feelings were about the allegations that were under investigation," he added. "A report came out, and now we know the outcome of the report from the AG's office, so no, I do not."
