NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Mayor Eric Adams said in a sit-down interview with Tucker Carlson—who has been closely aligned with President Donald Trump—that the Democratic Party has abandoned him and everyday New Yorkers.

The full interview airs at 6 p.m. on Carlson’s network, and he posted a preview clip on X to tease the main topics of conversation between him and Adams: the mayor’s political position, his public corruption indictment and immigration

“People often say, ‘You don’t sound like a Democrat, and you seem to have left the party,’” Adams said in a preview clip Tucker posted on X. “No, the party left me, and it left working-class people.”

Adams said in the clip that he believes the Democratic Party punished him with indictment over his comments on the migrant crisis in New York City. The mayor claimed that when he went to Joe Biden for federal support after thousands of asylum seekers flooded into the city, that the former president responded “Be a good Democrat, Eric.”

The mayor has cooled his stance that NYC should remain a sanctuary city, but has remained consistent that city government will continue to follow the law as long as it is in place. And

Adams toed a political line in the clip posted by Carlson, stating that “I don’t think they should be rounded up in the middle of the night and say ‘We’re going to move you out,’” before quickly stating that his administration has been “very clear” that NYC is not welcoming migrants.

“We were getting Venezuelan gang leaders that were coming to the city, creating crimes,” Adams said before stating that he is “At the end of the line.’
