NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Growing up in New York City, Mayor Eric Adams knows his way around some local sledding areas.

The mayor was on 1010 WINS on Saturday to discuss the city’s winter storm response where he shared where he would sleigh after a snow storm as a kid.

“I have a couple of spots. Growing up in South Jamaica, Queens. We would go up by Hillside Avenue by Jamaica High School and sleigh ride there,” Adams said.

Adams is also curious about where other New Yorkers like to sled around the city. He said he plans to pose the question on his social media pages for people to chime in on the city’s best sleigh ride spots.

The mayor has been spending the snowy Saturday on a five borough snow tour with the Department of Sanitation to understand the process of managing a big snow event.

“I am just so impressed by how this city is just a well oiled machine with city employees that know what to do,” Adams said. “They know the plays we must call and the more and more we just combine our efforts, we're going to be able to have the city run as smoothly as possible, particularly during a time of a storm like this.”

Adams assured New Yorkers that every single street in New York City will be plowed and encouraged people to check out the city’s real time plow map which allows users to see when their street was last plowed.

Yesterday, Adams shared that he knows the media will judge him based on how he handles his first snowstorm. So far, Adams said he thinks it’s going smoothly.

“We're doing a great job, New York and keep your head up,” Adams commented. “Put your thumbs up to say we're going to get through this.”
