NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – Mayor Eric Adams announced on Friday that he is planning a special two-day Halloween celebration at Gracie Mansion.

For "Halloween at Gracie Mansion 2023," the mansion's outdoor grounds will be transformed into a spooky Halloween-themed experience designed especially for young New Yorkers. Adams has also put aside tickets for around 300 families from the New York City Department of Homeless Services shelter system and asylum-seeking families.

Adams, known for his belief in ghosts at Gracie Mansion, mentioned his superstitions about the official mayoral residence during an appearance at a Yankees game in the Bronx last year.

Adams had said he sees objects moving at the 223-year-old mansion "all the time."

"Listen, they're creeping around," Adams said.

The event will include Halloween decorations, trick-or-treating, interactions with costumed characters, and the chance to explore a corn maze and a haunted cemetery.

Tickets will be available for free to the public on a first-come, first-served basis.

"I am confident that when we open 'The People's House,' New Yorkers will finally believe me about the ghosts floating around here," Adams said. "Halloween is a great opportunity for New Yorkers to spend time in their communities, and that's why we are inviting our city's residents to celebrate on the haunted — we mean historic — grounds of Gracie Mansion."
