NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- A bus driver was pummeled in the face last weekend in another attack on an MTA worker, police said Friday as they searched for a suspect.
The victim, a 49-year-old man, was on duty in Long Island City around 11:30 a.m. Saturday when he was attacked in a dispute with a woman.
She allegedly punched him multiple times in the face and then broke the rear window of the bus before fleeing on foot near Vernon Boulevard and 38th Avenue.
EMS responded and transported the victim to Mount Sinai Queens in stable condition.
News of the attack comes just a day after police said they were searching for a man who stabbed an MTA worker at the Times Square subway station on Monday night.
The 30-year-old victim suffered a “severe” laceration in the attack. He has since been released from the hospital.
In a statement on the stabbing, Bill Amarosa Jr., an executive vice president at NYC Transit, said “it’s unacceptable that someone would attack a transit worker doing their job to improve the lives of New York subway riders.”
“Thank goodness that cleaner appears to be recovering rapidly-and thanks to the NYPD for aggressively investigating,” the statement continued. “Transit cameras captured the perpetrator on video, and when he's apprehended the justice system should make sure maximum consequences are delivered.”
