NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — The American Museum of Natural History on Wednesday announced it is now requiring that all guests over the age of 12 get vaccinated.

According to the museum, visitors must show that they have been vaccinated against COVID-19 before entering. Guests who have not been vaccinated are being urged to visit the museum after receiving their shot.

The museum will also mandate that all guests over the age of 2 wear a face covering at all times inside the building. The mandate also applies to museum staff and volunteers.

The rule change was created in accordance with the recent New York City vaccination requirement.

Meanwhile, AMNH will continue to operate as a walk-in vaccination site for the time being.

According to the museum, same-day immunizations will satisfy the vaccination requirement for entry.

Guests who wish to visit the museum but have not been vaccinated can schedule an appointment during the morning hours and reserve museum tickets for the afternoon, or at a later date.

“For New Yorkers who are receiving their first vaccine dose, the city offers other incentives, including the option to redeem a $100 pre-paid debit card online, in addition to the museum’s free vouchers for future general admission,” AMNH said in an email to patrons.

Vaccination appointments can be made online using New York City’s COVID-19 vaccine finder website.

Tickets to the museum can be reserved at AMNH.org.
