NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – New York City mayoral candidate Andrew Yang is "doing well" after he was hospitalized Friday with what’s believed to be a kidney stone, his campaign and family said.

Yang, 46, experienced abdominal pain Friday morning and visited an emergency room, where he was "diagnosed with what appears to be kidney stone," according to his campaign.

“He remains at the hospital with Evelyn,” co-campaign manager Chris Coffey tweeted, referring to Yang’s wife.

Evelyn Yang posted an update to Twitter later on Friday morning, writing, "In the hospital with Andrew where we had our babies. Andrew is doing well on meds, with the best care team ever. We are joking about how this kidney stone is our third baby. Apparently it’s the closest men can get to labor."

Yang’s public campaign events for Friday have been canceled.

“He looks forward to getting back out on the trail in the days ahead,” his campaign said.

Yang was at the Yankees' season opener in the Bronx on Thursday afternoon.

Yang has been leading polls in the 2021 mayoral race ahead of the Democratic primary on June 22.
