The latest? The 47-year-old announced Thursday that he would launch Lobby3, a decentralized autonomous organization, to lobby for Web3 policies in Washington, D.C.

According to PCMag, "The term Web3 was coined by Gavin Wood — one of the co-founders of the Ethereum cryptocurrency — as Web 3.0 in 2014. Since then it’s become a catch-all term for anything that has to do with the next generation of the internet being a decentralized digital infrastructure."

However, according to New York Magazine, Web3 is "basically just cryptocurrencies and NFTs" at the moment.

A cryptocurrency proponent, Yang claimed in a tweet that his goal is to "eradicate poverty" with Web3.

In a video accompanying his tweet, Yang discusses how his background prepared him for his latest venture.

"A couple of years ago, I started [to do] advocacy work in D.C. to lobby for anti-poverty measures like cash relief and the child-tax credit, but now, I've come to realize that the most profound opportunity to fight poverty lies in Web3 technologies," he said. "Unfortunately, our leaders in D.C. don't get these technologies; they're a little bit nervous about them, so that's what we need to change."

Beginning Feb. 28, members will be able to join by purchasing general membership tokens. Level 1 grants basic access to the community, while Level 2 grants control over the community's direction. Level 3 is an invite-only level and will allow one-on-one access to Yang and the Lobby3 team.
