NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez admits that given the current goings-on in Washington -- aka the January 6 hearings and everything related to it -- that it's a bit tough to plan her wedding.
The 32-year-old member of Congress, who represents parts of the Bronx and Queens, confirmed on May 19 that she was engaged to longtime web developer boyfriend Riley Roberts. "It's true! Thank you all for the well wishes," she tweeted, adding that the couple got engaged in Puerto Rico, "about" a month earlier.
But the pair, who met as undergraduate students at Boston University in 2011, aren't quite knee-deep in wedding planning.
During an appearance on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" on Tuesday, he asked her, "How are the plans going?"
"It's a little tough right now to plan with all of this going on," Ocasio-Cortez said, to which Colbert, said, laughing, "supply issues!"
"Supply issues, yes," the Democratic lawmaker said laughing. "But we're really excited. We'll figure it out. We'll figure it out along the way."
Plus, she added, she's not the first member of Congress to juggle a wedding and representing her constituents.
"It's going to be very interesting planning a wedding, while serving in Congress," she said, "but I'm sure others have done it before, and we'll do it in the future."
