1 of 3 men who beat, bit woman during Manhattan robbery arrested: NYPD

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Police have arrested one of three men who allegedly beat and bit a woman before robbing her outside a Harlem liquor store last month, the NYPD said Wednesday.

Tyrone Cooper, 22, of Prospect Lefferts Gardens in Brooklyn, was arrested and charged with robbery on Wednesday, police said. The NYPD is still searching for two other men in connection with the incident.

The 31-year-old woman was inside a liquor store on West 128th Street, near Frederick Douglass Boulevard, around 5:50 p.m. on Jan. 18 when two men got into an argument with her, police said last month.

When the woman left the liquor store, the two men followed her, and were soon joined by a third man, the NYPD said. The trio then punched and kicked the woman multiple times, and one of the men bit the woman on her forehead, police said.

Surveillance footage the department released last month shows the men surrounding the woman outside the liquor store before kicking her against a vehicle.

The trio then stole the woman's iPhone before fleeing on foot, according to police.

The woman suffered a bite mark with broken skin on her face, as well as pain and bruising, the NYPD said. She was taken to Harlem Hospital in stable condition.

Cooper's attorney information wasn't immediately available Wednesday. An investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
