NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 20-year-old Brooklyn man was arrested early Sunday morning accused of wounding a man earlier this year and fatally shooting another this month, the NYPD said.
Officials said Tyrek Williams has been charged with murder, manslaughter, attempted murder and two criminal use of a firearm charges in connection to the shooting death of Dandre Johnson, 24, near St. Mary's Park in Mott Haven and the shooting of another 26-year-old in April.
On Aug. 18, police responded near the park on the corner of East 149th Street and Concord Avenue around 10:55 p.m. to find Johnson with gunshot wounds to his back and arm.
Johnson was taken to to NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln and was pronounced dead, authorities said.
Williams was also charged in connection with another shooting in front of 416 East 137 Street, police said.
Authorities said Williams approached the victim and fired multiple shots at him — sustaining a gunshot wound to his left hand. He was transported to the same hospital as Johnson but survived.
Police said Sunday that these investigation remains ongoing.
