NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The NYPD is searching for a man who is wanted for flashing a box cutter at a worker inside a Manhattan supermarket after he was caught stealing beer last weekend, authorities said.
At 12:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 9, the suspect was inside a Fairway located at 550 2nd Avenue in Kips Bay when he filled his backpack with four 12-packs of Corona beer valued at $81, police said.
The suspect then tried to leave the store without paying and was intercepted by a 29-year-old member of the store's loss prevention staff.
Officials said the suspect displayed a box cutter and fled the location on foot.
There were no injuries reported and an investigation remains ongoing.
