NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 27-year-old man was hospitalized as police determined that he accidentally shot himself in the chest Sunday night in Midtown, authorities said.
The incident, occurred just after 10 p.m. on Billionaires' Row on 57th Street and Sixth Avenue.
The man was rushed to Mount Sinai West in a police cruiser where he remains in critical but stable condition.
According to officials, the man initially provided authorities with a "vague description of a suspect wearing all black," the NYPD eventually concluded the wound was self-inflicted.
Officials stated the man will likely face charges for criminal possession of a weapon and falsely reporting an incident.
