
NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A bomb threat called in from a California phone number led to the evacuation of IS 49 in Brooklyn, Tuesday morning, impacting approximately 2,000 students and faculty.
The incident began at 8:34 a.m. when the NYPD was alerted to a threat targeting the school, located at 223 Graham Ave. in East Williamsburg.
According to police sources, the threat was initially called from a California phone number to New York state troopers, who flagged the NYPD.
The entire building was immediately evacuated as a precaution. Emergency Service Unit and K-9 units are currently on the scene conducting a thorough sweep of the premises.
The investigation into the threat remains ongoing.
