FLOWER HILL, N.Y, (1010 WINS) — Nassau County officials are investigating the death of a boy who was struck by a pickup truck while crossing a Long Island street Monday evening.
According to detectives, at about 6:40 p.m., the 12-year-old pedestrian ran across Middle Neck Road outside of a crosswalk near Northern Boulevard in Flower Hill, when he was struck by a 2023 Ford pickup truck traveling northbound on Middle Neck Road.
The boy was transported to an area hospital in critical condition where he was pronounced by hospital staff.
Authorities said the boy, who has not been identified by police, was running across the busy crosswalk when he was struck.
He was later identified as Nathan Ha.
The 18-year-old pickup truck driver remained at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
