NEW YORK (1010 WINS) - A 15-year-old boy is critical after accidentally shooting himself in the head while handling a firearm at a Bronx baseball field on Monday afternoon, police said.
The incident occurred around 2:45 p.m. on Bivona Street near Hunter Avenue in Eastchester.
According to police, the victim’s 13-year-old friend brought a handgun to the field. While the older teen was playing with the weapon, it discharged, striking him in the head.
He was rushed to a local hospital where he remains in critical but stable condition.
The NYPD arrested the 13-year-old on Monday night. He faces charges of reckless endangerment and criminal possession of a weapon.
