NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 3-year-old boy fell five stories from a Bronx apartment building Monday afternoon, officials said.
The toddler fell from the bedroom window of the apartment on Maclay Avenue in Westchester Square at approximately 1:30 p.m., authorities said.
The child's mother told officials that he pushed on a piece of cardboard next to the air conditioner in the apartment.
The child struck a store awning before landing on the ground, police said.
The boy has Down syndrome and broke his femur, according to the New York Post.
He was taken to Jacobi Medical Center, the NYPD said.
The city's Administration for Children's Services was notified, and no criminality is suspected, according to officials.
