Boy killed, mom seriously injured in NJ dog attack

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A dog attack in New Jersey left a 3-year-old boy dead and his mother seriously injured on Tuesday, authorities said.

The boy and his mother were attacked by two dogs at a home on Laurel Street in Carteret around 4:30 p.m., according to the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office and Carteret police.

Both of them were transported by helicopter to an area hospital, where the boy was pronounced dead, authorities said.

The boy has not been identified.

“Our prayers are with the family affected by a dog attack at a private residence on Laurel Street,” Mayor Dan Reiman tweeted earlier Tuesday.

It’s unclear who owns the dogs. An investigation is ongoing.
