NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Long gone are the days when women would burn their bras en masse as a political statement.
Fast forward a few decades, and lifestyle brand Aerie has you covered (kinda literally) if you're seeking to set yourself free: It is encouraging guests at its inaugural, open-to-the-public Hidden Gem Marketplace, slated for Aug. 15 at the Meatpacking District's Gansevoort Plaza, to donate used bra styles.
They will then get fitted in a bra from Aerie's fall 2023 collection by one of the brand' specialists.
The bra will be donated to the Indiana-based charity Free the Girls, whose mission is "to help women exiting sex trafficking reintegrate into their communities," according to its website.
Also at the marketplace, which will be held 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., will be a slew of booths from brands that embody Aerie's "mission of making people feel good inside and out, inspiring positivity, uniting community and promoting confidence."
The aforementiooned brands include Brooklyn Blooms, Inked by Dani, Kobrick Coffee Co., Mikey Likes It, Palace One Eleven, PopUp Bagels, Schmackary's, Sunday Forever, and Tom's Perfect 10.
