NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A 73-year-old man arrested for murder after a woman was found brutally beaten to death in a Bronx apartment on Monday.

Jeffrey Kolin was charged with murder, manslaughter, strangulation, and criminal possession of a weapon.

At approximately 7:28 a.m., police responded to a 911 call of an assault at their Barnes Avenue apartment in Pelham Bay and found 77-year-old Marsha Greenberg unconscious and unresponsive.

According to officials, Greenberg had brutally beaten and was transported by EMS to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi, where she was pronounced dead.

The relationship between them wasn’t immediately clear, but they both lived at the apartment. Reports indicate Greenberg was Kolin’s wife or longtime partner.

A motive remains unknown and the investigation is ongoing.
