NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) -- A man was killed, and his wife and two sons were injured, in a Bronx high-rise apartment inferno on Monday night, officials said.
The 45-year-old man was pronounced dead on arrival at NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln after being rushed from the fire in the Highbridge section, according to police. He has not been identified.
A 46-year-old woman and two boys—ages 15 years and 11 months—were injured. They were transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem.
They are the wife and two sons of the man, according to the office of Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson.
All three were in stable condition at the hospital and are expected to recover, officials said.

The fire broke out around 10:15 p.m. on the 24th floor of 1133 Ogden Ave., a 26-story residential building near W. 166th Street.
Fire was “blowing out the windows on the balcony” of the family’s apartment when firefighters arrived, FDNY Deputy Chief Christopher Ritchie said.

“Units got up there and were met with heavy fire right at the apartment door,” Ritchie said.
While the other residents managed to get out, firefighters found the father unconscious in the rear of the burning apartment, according to officials.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the FDNY fire marshal, but it does not appear to be suspicious, officials said.
