NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A Bronx man has been indicted on multiple counts, including attempted murder, after he allegedly shot two NYPD officers in late November, Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark announced Monday.

Charlie Vasquez, 23, was arraigned on Monday on two counts of attempted murder in the first degree, two counts of attempted murder in the second degree, two counts of attempted aggravated assault upon a police officer, two counts of attempted assault in the first degree, two counts of second-degree assault, first-degree criminal use of a firearm, second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a firearm and second-degree obstructing governmental administration.

Clark said NYPD Police Officers Robert Holmes and Alejandra Jacobs responded to a 911 call on the evening of Nov. 24 to a Beaumont Avenue apartment about a man with a gun. Vasquez, who sat on the stoop outside the location, met with officers as they arrived.

Vasquez allegedly took out a pistol and fired six shots at the cops, and Jacobs, a military veteran and U.S. Air Force Reserves member who had been on the force for a year, was wounded in the arm.

Officials said Holmes, an eight-year veteran of the NYPD, struggled with the defendant in an attempt to restrain him, and Jacobs shot at Vasquez.

Two other officers responding to the scene rushed to their aid and helped restrain Vasquez. During the incident, Holmes was also shot once in the chest.

Both officers were taken to St. Barnabas Hospital where they were treated and released. Clark said the defendant was shot several times and is expected to make a full recovery.

"Thankfully, the injuries the officers sustained were not life-threatening and they are expected to fully recover," Clark said in a statement.

Vasquez was remanded and is expected back in court on April 22.
