Bronx MTA bus driver sprayed in face with unknown substance; suspect sought

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — Police released surveillance footage are searching for a woman accused of spraying a Bronx MTA bus driver with unknown an substance last month.

At approximately 8:40 a.m. on Monday, May 19, an on-duty 33-year-old MTA employee was onboard a Bx10 bus in the vicinity of Bainbridge Avenue and Van Cortlandt Avenue East in Norwood when the woman sprayed an unknown substance into her face.

The suspect then fled the location to parts unknown.

The victim was transported to Montefiore Medical Center in stable condition.

This was at least the four attack on on-duty New York City transit workers reported since last week. The NYPD recently released surveillance images of a man who allegedly bashed an MTA bus operator over the head with a wrench.

The NYPD also released images Thursday of a suspect wanted for beating an MTA bus operator with her purse in Brooklyn.
