NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- The NYPD released surveillance images Friday of a man who allegedly bashed an MTA bus operator over the head with a wrench this month—just the latest attack on a transit worker we're learning about.

The victim—a 71-year-old man—was on duty and operating a B61 bus in Red Hook on the morning of May 13 when he was attacked at Lorraine and Hicks streets, near the Red Hook Houses.

According to police, the suspect boarded the bus around 8 a.m. and got into a dispute with the bus driver.

During the altercation, he brandished a wrench and struck the victim on the forehead with it, police said.

He then fled on a scooter, heading eastbound on Lorraine Street. He's believed to be in his 40s and is 5 feet, 6 inches tall, police said.

The victim suffered minor injuries and was transported by EMS to New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, where he was in stable condition.

The suspect is believed to be in his 40s and is 5 feet, 6 inches tall, police said.

Word of the attack comes a day after a pipe-wielding man attacked an MTA worker at the Bergen Street F/G station in Cobble Hill on Thursday morning. The NYPD also released images Thursday of a suspect wanted for beating an MTA bus operator with her purse in Brooklyn. Cops are also searching for a man who punched an MTA conductor in the face unprovoked at Grand Central.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
