NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — A newly-opened convenience store in the Bronx was robbed at gunpoint early Saturday morning and three store employees were roughed up by the six suspects police are now seeking.

It happened at about 12:09 a.m. on Saturday morning at 1604 Williamsbridge Road, located at the corner or Pierce Avenue in Morris Park, police said.

Officials said that six men, clad in all black and wearing black masks, entered the shop carrying guns.

No shots were fired, but three of the four employees present suffered minor injuries, police said. None of the victims went to the hospital.

1010 WINS/WCBS 880 spoke with Joey, the convenience store owner, who was in the shop at the time of the robbery with his son, brother and cousin, who were assaulted.

“They turn the lights off, they hit them with guns in their faces,” Joey said.

The store—which held its grand opening less than a month ago—is equipped with multiple surveillance cameras, but the robbers worked to make them useless to police.

“They go, right away, to get the camera, the hard drive,” Joey said.

According to Joey and store employees, the robbery team stole $10,000 worth of cash and merchandise.

Joey told 1010 WINS/WCBS 880 that he believes the robbery may have been in the works for over a week.

“I saw a car, with four guys inside, and they looked into the store. Right away I called the workers at the store, I said ‘lock the door, don’t open the door for no one.’”

Police said that the robbers fled in an unknown direction. Investigators believe the crew left in a vehicle, but it is unknown what kind.

There have been no arrests and an investigation is ongoing.
