NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Several Brooklyn bars banded together to create a calendar to help bring in money to help the struggling bar businesses in the area.
The idea to create a calendar was brewed in a Bushwick bar in mid-December, the New York Post reports.
“One of the other bartenders and I were spitballing at the end of a shift and it came up as a joke: What if we did a sexy bartender calendar like the firemen do?” Leslie Hong, floor manager at Bushwick’s Our Wicked Lady, told The Post. “When we were sober the next morning it still seemed like a good idea.”
Hong joined forces with 13 neighborhood bars and put together the “Bushwick Bar Babes of 2021” calendar, which befittingly cost $20.21 and are now available for pre-order.
The bars have also created a joint GoFundMe for anyone wanting to give a little more.
Each bar involved would make about $1,000 if the calendars sell out.
