Judge Harriet Thompson allegedly ranted against Hispanic people, gay people and colleagues, according to court documents obtained by the New York Daily News.
“I hate these gay white men,” said Thompson, who is a Black woman, according to the docuemnts. “Gay racist f*****s... trying to ruin me and get me... Being gay is an abomination to mankind. The Holy Ghost going to get them.”
The court papers accused Thompson of saying she “assumed the litigant was a liar” in any case involving someone with a Hispanic-sounding name.
“They have a deceitful trait that goes back to Biblical times,” she reportedly said of Hispanics. “The men are always stealing, and the women are no better. They lie, steal and use their vaginas for anything they want.”
Thompson told the Daily News the affidavit was a “political hit,” when asked for a comment on the 20-page report.
The affidavit also describes hateful comments made about colleagues.
She allegedly accused women she worked with of trading sexual favors for seats on the bench and said a judge who was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s disease “got what she deserved.”
On April 14, about four months after she was removed, she filed a petition to return to the bench.
She was accused of “bias and discrimination” when she was initially removed, but this is the first time the specifics of the allegation have been made public.
Thompson started her 14-year term on Jan. 1, 2019, and was removed in Dec. 2021.
