Eric Leykin, 31, was the CEO of a medical laboratory in Kenilworth, N.J. He allegedly impersonated an equipment technician in order to gain access to and destroy equipment in a competing business.

On June 30, he bought a prepaid mobile phone and called the competing lab — claiming to be a technician that serviced laboratory equipment, according to officials.

He allegedly used the July 1 appointment to destroy lab and computer equipment. He also stole hard drives from the business, authorities said.

Prosecutors charged him with wire fraud, accessing a protected computer without authorization and recklessly causing damage.

He was arraigned by a Newark federal court judge who released him on $1 million bond.

If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison and a fine of either $250,000 or twice the loss of the business, whichever is higher
