NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A Brooklyn McDonald’s began enforcing a new rule last week that states anyone under the age of 20 is not allowed entry without a parent, and not everyone’s loving it.

“No one under 20 is allowed in this restaurant without a parent and proper identification,” a sign posted on the Flatbush restaurant’s door reads.

The McDonald’s is located near the intersection of Nostrand and Flatbush avenues and security guards are working the doors to enforce the new rule.

Manager Amber Hussain told the New York Post that the rule was implemented after a recent incident in which a group of kids wearing ski masks crowded the fast food joint, attacked a security guard and broke a glass door.

For the year that she has worked there, Hussain said that a group of 15 to 20 teenagers comes into the restaurant every day after school to “trash the store.” They throw ice, take bags of food from delivery drivers and smoke cannabis inside, she told the New York Post.

There have been 29 calls made to 911 from the location in 2025, according to the NYPD.

Some agree that the restaurant can get chaotic, with one nearby resident telling 1010 WINS that the kids “get out of control when it's too much of a crowd.”

“I think it’s a way to control the kids because they do get rowdy most of the time, so I feel as though it is good,” another said.

Though not everyone agrees with the rule, with some stating that the age restriction is a bit drastic.

“It should be maybe 16, 17, because we don’t want to categorize all the kids as bad,” one woman told 1010 WINS.
