NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – The NYPD warned Friday that there's been an increase in crimes targeting Uber drivers.

The NYPD's 61st Precinct—which encompasses the Brooklyn neighborhoods of Gravesend, Sheepshead Bay and Manhattan Beach—put out the warning on Twitter.

"There has been an increase in crimes against the operators of UBER vehicles, especially theft of private funds," the precinct warned.

Police said drivers shouldn't let passengers handle or use any electronic device that is attached to debit cards, bank accounts or credit cards.

"Protect your property. Protect your money," they said.
