NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Milk, sugar, cream, and a dash of colostrum. That’s what one Brooklyn-based ice cream shop is including in its newest frozen flavor — breast milk.

In honor of National Breastfeeding Month, Oddfellows Ice Cream Company is teaming up with Frida, a baby and postpartum company, to bring Breast Milk Ice Cream to shelves and stomachs around New York City and beyond.
But before you pass on a scoop — the sweet treat isn’t made with actual breast milk, just made to mimic the salty, sweet flavor.

The best part? While an ice cream’s normal nutritional info might make your doctor scream, this ice cream is packed with the same actual nutrients as the real deal, including omega-3 fats, lactose, and vitamins like iron, calcium, vitamin B, D and zinc.

People flocked to the ice cream shop on 44 Water St. to give the freshly expressed ice cream a try.

"I've seen the breast milk tank over here, and I was very intrigued by that," breast milk ice cream tester Shareef Abdul said. "It tastes a little bit like vanilla, a little egg in it, and a mystery flavor."

Paige Caliguiri of Deer Park, Long Island, drove to the shop to celebrate her birthday with her 11-month old daughter Peyton in tow.

"We wanted to show our support on World Breastfeeding Week, because this is very cool, and is just getting people to talk more about nursing and breast feeding," Caliguiri said.

Latch on fast — you can buy a pint from Aug. 5 to Aug. 10 at Oddfellows' Dumbo location. Free scoops will be available from noon to 1 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday.

Can’t make it to the Big Apple? The bosom bounty is available for shipping online. But don’t wait, the milk supply dries up August 10th.

Boob appétit!
