VIDEO: Burglar steals mirror after setting fire inside Manhattan bar

NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A man broke into a bar in Manhattan and set a fire before stealing a mirror, the NYPD said.

The man made his way into Bella Union Bar, a bar at the corner of East 29th Street and 3rd Avenue in Kips Bay that is currently under renovation, via its rooftop around 2 a.m. on July 1, police said.

Once he was inside, the man set fire to paper that was covering the bar's floor, picked up a mirror and fled the scene with it, the NYPD said.

The fire dwindled on its own and did not spread, police said. A worker discovered the missing mirror and burnt paper later that morning and reported the burglary to police, the NYPD said.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
