NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A woman on a bicycle was struck and killed Tuesday night by burglary suspects who were fleeing police in Long Island City, authorities said.
The yet-identified woman, who was in her 30s, was riding a bicycle at 43rd Street and 37th Avenue around 11:05 p.m. when she was run down by a black Dodge Ram whose occupants were being pursued by police, according to the NYPD.
Three masked people inside the Dodge had been linked to an earlier burglary in Astoria, police said.
The bicyclist was transported to NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst, where she was pronounced dead.
Officers tracked the Dodge to 47th Street and Newtown Road in Astoria, where they believe it was abandoned by the suspects.
No arrests had been reported Wednesday as the investigation continued.
