NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – A carbon monoxide leak at a home in Queens on Sunday left five people hospitalized, including a child, officials said.

Three of the victims suffered life-threatening injuries, while two were seriously injured, according to the FDNY.

First responders received a call around 1:30 p.m. about an unconscious person at a rowhouse on 198th Street, between Murdock and 115th avenues, in Jamaica.

The incident was soon upgraded to a carbon monoxide emergency. Citizen App video shows the FDNY on the block.

All five patients were initially treated by EMS at the scene and then transported to Nassau University Medical Center.

The leak was from a defective boiler flue in the basement, but it eventually spread to adjacent houses, according to FDNY deputy chief George Healy.

“That flue pipe had a disconnection in it, and instead of all those gases going out of the house, some of them seeped back into the residence,” Healy told WABC.

There were no working carbon monoxide detectors in the home, the FDNY said.
