NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — The beloved Metrograph Theater in Chinatown is finally reopening after the coronavirus pandemic forced its closure in March 2020.

The independent two-screen theater will return to in-person screenings Friday Oct. 1, management announced recently in a news release.
“We’ve missed seeing you at the theater!” said Metrograph CEO Christian Grass in a statement. “We are grateful to our team who have been working behind the scenes preparing our space and our programs to offer an experience which will be both exciting and safe. Looking forward to our continued growth, and to seeing everyone very soon.”
All staff and visitors will be required to be vaccinated for access inside, as per New York City COVID-19 regulations. Face masks must be worn at all times except for when seated at the theater's restaurant.
The theater will relaunch with a new 4K restoration of Andrzej Żuławski’s "Possession," starring Isabelle Adjani and Sam Neill, according to Metrograph.
Metrograph also plans to continue its at-home streaming service through its app and website.
