NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — The New York City Department of Buildings partially or fully shut down four garages after a wave of inspections was kicked off by a fatal garage collapse near Pace University’s Financial District campus.

The April 18 collapse killed one person and injured five.

The DOB inspected 78 garages across New York City, targeting those with outstanding DOB violations.

The agency ordered the garage at 2781 Stillwell Avenue in Coney Island to close and mandated the building’s owner hire an engineer to create a plan for repairs.

The garage at 429 12th Street in Park Slope was ordered partially closed after DOB workers found corroded columns.

The agency issued a partial vacate order to the garage at 225 Rector Place in Manhattan’s Battery Park City neighborhood after inspectors found corroded reinforcements.

A garage at 50 Bayard Street in Chinatown also received a partial vacate order for cracked concrete and heavily rusted steel beams.
