NEW YORK (1010 WINS) — A clerk at a Manhattan 7-Eleven was attacked last month when he tried to stop a man from shoplifting bags of candy, the NYPD said Wednesday.
The incident happened around 11 p.m. on Nov. 30 at a 7-Eleven location on Third Avenue in the Kips Bay neighborhood of Manhattan.
Police said a 26-year-old store employee witnessed an unidentified man putting three bags of candy in his jacket pocket and went to confront him about the alleged theft.
The man then punched the victim in the mouth before fleeing the store on foot without any property.
Authorities said the victim refused medical attention at the scene.
The attacker is described as being in his late 20s, with a dark complexion, medium build and black hair. He was last seen wearing a green hoodie sweater, dark jacket, green sweatpants and multi-color sneakers.
