NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) — The NYPD is searching for a man wanted in an attempted sexual assault of a 21-year-old woman in Central Park on Monday afternoon.
At around 1:30 p.m., in the Great Hill section of the park, officers responded to a call of the attempted assault of the woman, who was sunbathing by herself near 104th Street and Central Park West.
NYPD officials said at a press conference that the woman saw the suspect approach her and expose his genitals, at which point she stood up and screamed.
The suspect then tried to get on top of the woman, but she managed to get him off of her.
He then tackled her from behind, but she managed to fight him off a second time.
The NYPD is searching for a man, described as Black, in his 30s and six-feet-tall. He was last seen wearing a green shirt, blue jeans and a blue hat, authorities said.
The victim was taken to an area hospital for evaluation.
An investigation remains ongoing.
